Began at Rost Inc. in 2014
Nate Anderson started out on our crews in 2014 and began working as a designer after finishing his degree at Mizzou. Here’s an interview with Nate 10 years into his time at Rost, Inc.
Why did you decide to go into this profession/industry?
I always knew I wanted to work outdoors and with plants/nature. I started working at Rost on the install crews. After being a part of building so many beautiful outdoor spaces I became interested in the design process and finished out my degree in landscape design.
What do you like most about working in this profession and why?
I like helping clients envision their ideal outdoor spaces and helping them bring their visions to life. Because Rost is a design/build company, we not only get to design the projects, but also see them installed. Its so rewarding to see your vision come to reality.
What makes you the face of outdoor spaces?
I have been working with Rost for 10 years, and have been designing for 7. I have studied a wide range of landscape design styles. Rost strives to be on the cutting edge of new landscape technologies, and we are always looking for ways to improve and push the envelope.
What goal have you completed that you are most proud of?
I have worked on numerous really fun projects over the years at Rost, but the goal is the same everyday – to wake up and make sure we give it our all on whatever project we happen to be working on at that particular time. Every project comes with its own set of challenges and we look at each project and client individually to come up with the best solutions possible.
What legacy and impact do you see yourself having in the Columbia community?
I hope that I can impact the community by being a friendly face to our clients. You often hear of people having bad experiences with contractors. It is my goal to make sure every client goes away feeling good about the experience they had in transforming their property.
Have you always wanted to be in this profession? If not, when did you decide on this path?
I decided on this path halfway through college. At the time I was debating going into landscape design or potentially furthering my education and going into a research position in the field of plant science. I’m glad I went the direction I did!
Please share a bit about your family
My family consists of my wife Cora and our 4-year-old son Arlo. We like to be outdoors and spend most of our free time on our bikes, kayaks, or in the backyard playing. My son grew his first tomato plant last year!
